Tippi McCullough, MSE, BSE, English teacher at Little Rock Central HS, is the Secretary of the Board of Directors. She has taught high school English for 30 years in AR including Kingston, Newport, Mountain Pine, Mount St. Mary Academy and currently LRCHS. She coached basketball and other sports for 26 years. She served on the AR High School Coaches Association (AHSCA) Girls All-Star Committee, the AHSCA Executive Committee and ex-officio committee, and also served as the first woman president of the AHSCA Executive Committee.
She has been awarded grants from the Arkansas Council for the Humanities for research, the National Endowment for the Humanities for summer in-depth study of poet Emily Dickinson at Amherst University in MA, and from the Gilder-Lehrman Institute for Women’s Studies at NYU.
She is an advocate for the LGBT community. She is president of the AR Stonewall Democratic Caucus serving the LGBT community through participating in and advocating through local politics. She has made speeches for The Human Rights Campaign in Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; New Orleans, LA; and Dallas, TX as well as Little Rock, AR.
She has written for the HRC Magazine and blog and has written and performed in Tales From the South on NPR. She also sponsors the GSA, Young Democrats, and helps with the Feminist Club at Central HS.
